Baku. 28 December. REPORT.AZ/ The reporting conference by results of activity of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation in 2018 has been held today.
According to Report, during the event held at the Baku Olympic Stadium, Federation President Rovnag Abdullayev extended congratulations on the occasion of December 31 - the Solidarity Day of World Azerbaijanis and New Year. He noted that the year 2018 was marked by significant events and achievements of the Azerbaijani judo.
Secretary General Elmar Babanli reported on the works performed during the year. According to him, 177 medals including 48 gold, 46 silver, 83 bronze medals were claimed in 39 international competitions. Babanli reminded that the world championship hosted in Baku involved 755 athletes from 124 countries and noted that the mundial was organized on a high level. The federation representative stressed that Vugar Talibov grabbed gold in the third Summer Youth Olympic Games.
Speaking about the competitions ahead in 2019, the secretary general said the Grand Slam tournament in memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev would be held in May.
A financial report was then heard and the athletes and coaches who succeeded during the year were awarded.
In conclusion, Rovnag Abdullayev said that the year 2019 will be difficult for Azerbaijani judo: "We must win the maximal number of licenses in all tournaments. Our coaches must work to claim licenses in all weight categories in Tokyo's 2020 Olympic Games. I am sure that Azerbaijan will be represented on a high level in the birthplace of judo."
