Azerbaijan claims third place among 93 countries in Grand Slam contest

Baku. 25 February. REPORT.AZ/ Azerbaijani judo team claimed the third place among 93 countries in the Grand Slam tournament hosted in Germany's Dusseldorf.

Report informs that the national team achieved this success with 1 gold and 3 bronze medals.

By the information, Japan leads with 9 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals, and Brazil is second with 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals.

But among men Azerbaijan with its 1 silver and 2 bronze medals was second after Japan which grabbed 6 gold, and 2 silver awards. The national women's team with its 1 bronze medal shared the 14-16th places with Austria and Portugal.

Notably, in the Grand Slam tournament Mammadali Mehdiyev (90 kg) won gold, Rustam Orujov (73 kg), Zelim Kotsoyev (100 kg) and Irina Kindzerska (+78 kg) won bronze medals.
