Joel Cahuasqui is a 25-year-old kickboxer who recently passed away. Cahuasqui had suffered from brain stem hemorrhage after he got injured in a recent fight in Ecuador.
This terrible news comes after a high kick knocked out the fighter. The incident happened during a match held in the Pacific Cup and National Selective Kickboxing championship. Alberto Astudillo B took to Twitter and shared the disturbing news.
“I regret to report that the athlete from the Imbabura records, Joel Cahuasqui, has just died, according to reports from those close to him.
“The athlete had a brain stem hemorrhage after a match held in the Pacific Cup and National Selective Kickboxing Championship,” he wrote.
The young athlete was being kept on life support, but later the doctors pronounced his death. El Norte posted about the incident.
They wrote, “Kickboxing athlete Joel Cahuasqui, a native of Imbabura, died after being disconnected from a machine that kept him alive with artificial life. The imbabureño received a blow to the head that left him brain dead.”
The blow was so strong that even the headgear could not protect the young kickboxer. According to the news, there were no paramedics on the scene. The shock that the fans in attendance and everybody on the stage would have felt must have been terrifying.
