Remains of 553 human corpses found in Azerbaijan’s liberated lands

To date, the remains of 553 human corpses in total have been found in the liberated territories of the Azerbaijan Republic, the head of the Special Investigation Department of the Military Prosecutor's Office, Emil Taghiyev, said at a briefing on the mass grave discovered in Khojaly district, Report informs.

Taghiyev stated that those remains belonged to persons considered missing in the First Karabakh War.

He added that 3,890 Azerbaijanis went missing from 1988 to 1994.

The official also mentioned that 3,171 of the missing are military personnel, and 719 are civilians.

Meanwhile, Orkhan Rzayev, the head of the Criminalistics Department of the General Prosecutor's Office, said that the human remains that were discovered have signs of violence: "The remains are accompanied by the facts of the hands being tied and being hit with injurious objects."
