Azerbaijani police to work in intensified regime during Formula 1 and EURO 2020

On May 26, the Ministry of Internal Affairs held an operational meeting through video conferencing on the upcoming tasks in maintaining public order and ensuring public safety during the international sports events - Formula 1 and 4 matches of the European Football Championship in Baku.

Opening the meeting, Minister Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov noted that Azerbaijan had hosted many prestigious sports competitions in recent years. He said that the law enforcement agencies had gained significant experience in ensuring public safety and order in such events.

The Minister stressed the importance of the high-level performance of police officers and service members of the Internal Troops, who will serve in an intensified mode during the international sports events to be held in June-July this year. According to him, this year's competitions coincide with a pandemic and will be held under certain restrictions.

Eyvazov made demands and recommendations to ensure the safety of participants, fans, and visitors to the country during the games, to maintain public order in the venues and the surrounding areas, to strengthen security at fan gathering points in the city.
