Commander of Russian peacekeepers behaves like protector of Armenians: MENR official

The commander of the Russian peacekeepers Andrey Volkov does not play the role of a peacemaker between the two nations but behaves as a protector of Armenians, Narmina Garibova, deputy chairperson of the Public Council of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, told Report.

Stating that she has been on the Shusha-Khankandi road for more than five hours, the deputy chairperson said that the slogans raised in action are for the sake of nature, the future, and life. Garibova emphasized that the protesters came to this area with good intentions.

According to her, protecting nature means protecting the world:

"But we see a great ecological terror against our nature. We want to meet with Major General Andrey Volkov, the commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces temporarily stationed in Azerbaijan. However, such situation is observed that Volkov does not play the role of a peacemaker between the two nations, he behaves more like a protector of Armenians. He doesn't want to meet us."

Garibova believes that this is disrespectful to the people of Azerbaijan:

"As civil society and media, we are representatives of the steadfast Azerbaijani people and are very strong. Despite the cold weather, our tents have been set up by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and we can stay here for months. The main thing is to protect our nature and our country. We hope that the state that sent Volkov here will give him a proper assessment."
