Azerbaijani Interior Ministry warns population about incoming calls from abroad

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Internal Affairs has warned bank customers about calls from abroad, Report informs, citing a Facebook post of Major Elshad Hajiyev, Chief of the Media and Public Relations Department of the Interior Ministry.

Elshad Hajiyev wrote:

“Today, in the Narimanov district, a citizen was called from a foreign number and asked for bank card details, saying, ‘It's from the bank, clarification is underway, give the password, please ...’. The cardholder passed the information to the stranger without any clarification. As a result, a large amount of money in his account was transferred to a foreign bank account.

We advise citizens not to give bank card details to strangers, as the banks you are a customer of do not need your bank card information.”
