Azerbaijan comments on reports of coronavirus cases among inmates

Azerbaijan's penitentiary service has dismissed the information about the COVID-19 infection cases among inmates as untrue.

"These reports are untrue. As stated before, we conduct complex preventive and educational measures in penitentiary facilities. There have been no incidents even supposedly related to coronavirus. As a result of preventive measures, even the cases of applying for medical aid were reduced to a minimum in recent days. That is, everything is under strict control. Even our officials are examined at the checkpoint. They come to work in protective masks and have their body temperature measured. So all necessary actions continue," Chief of the public relations department at the service Mehman Sadiqov said.

Azerbaijan has reported 81 active cases of coronavirus infection, with three in critical condition and five in moderate-severe. The rest are stable.
