Is Microsoft closing its representative office in Azerbaijan?

Microsoft does not stop the activity of its representative office in Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the company.

"Microsoft's Azerbaijan office is not closed, and the company will issue a statement if necessary," it said.

According to the information obtained by Report, about ten employees of Microsoft Azerbaijan were laid off, including the general manager Gachay Mirzayev and several employees left the company.

The laid-off employees are mainly employees working on projects implemented and currently suspended in Russia and Ukraine.

Yesterday, social networks and a number of mass media published information about the closing of the office of Microsoft Azerbaijan.

The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport told Report that Azerbaijan's cooperation with Microsoft continues:

"Regarding the opinions expressed on the suspension of the Microsoft representative office in Azerbaijan, we inform you that each company determines its activity strategy and scope.

"At the same time, we bring to your attention that the termination of the Microsoft representative office does not mean that the current cooperation between the company and the government of Azerbaijan is terminated. The company successfully continues its collaboration with the state institutions and private companies of Azerbaijan through its partners."
