State Service: We do not control quality of Internet

During the first half of 2022, the State Service for Antimonopoly Regulation and Control of the Consumer Market under the Ministry of Economy received 44 applications regarding the quality of Internet services, the State Committee said, responding to Report's inquiry.

The statement says that the authority to control the quality of the Internet is the responsibility of another department:

"The powers of the State Service for Antimonopoly Regulation and Control of the Consumer Market do not include determining indicators of the quality of Internet services, monitoring the quality of services of business entities operating in this area, regardless of their form of ownership and organizational and legal form. Applications received by the State Service on issues of quality of Internet services are transferred to the relevant government agency.

The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport told Report that there is no norm in the legislation regulating the activities of Internet providers:

"Currently, there are no norms in national legislation that directly regulate the activities of Internet providers/operators. However, the ministry plans to prepare drafts of relevant legal acts to improve the situation in this area."
