Rovshan Rustamov: Our goal is to have min 25 Mbps high-speed broadband internet by 2024

"We continue to invest in the country's broadband infrastructure and implement national broadband projects using GPON and LTE technologies. Our goal is to increase the percentage of fixed broadband internet subscribers using FTTH (Fiber to the Home) networks and achieve full coverage of broadband internet with a minimum speed of 25 Mbps by 2024," Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rovshan Rustamov said while representing Azerbaijan at the next meeting of the Council of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva, Switzerland, Report informs.

Noting that about 85% of the population in Azerbaijan uses the internet, the Deputy Minister stressed the importance of expanding public-private partnership. He said that the entire population of Azerbaijan is covered by the mobile network, mobile broadband internet is widespread. The number of active mobile broadband subscribers per 100 people is 73.
