Rector: Information security has serious economic consequences

Information security is not merely a technological issue; it also has grave economic implications, Vilayat Valiyev, the rector of Azerbaijan Technical University, said at the opening ceremony of the training titled "New cyber defense methods supported by artificial intelligence in wireless communication" held in Baku, Report informs.

Valiyev emphasized that information security is one of the crucial elements ensuring sustainable economic development.

He stated, "As technology advances, it demands the introduction of new methods of combat. In such instances, artificial intelligence-based technologies provide critical insights into identifying threats and forecasting their future trajectories."

The rector highlighted the increasing role of universities and research centers in this domain, stressing the necessity for more robust collaboration with industries and enterprises. He believes that Azerbaijan should significantly enhance its personnel training in information security, particularly at the doctoral level, to ensure that educators are well-equipped to deliver more rigorous programs.

Valiyev also underscored the importance of conducting scientific research across all spheres, leading to the formation of critical infrastructure in various industrial sectors, especially in energy and telecommunications. He noted the significance of auditing, studying technological issues, and relevant standards in this context.

Emphasizing the importance of bringing together interested parties to form a cybersecurity ecosystem in Azerbaijan, the rector highlighted the need for developing normative legal documents and addressing practical matters in this direction.
