By the end of this year, Malaysia will grant its orbital position to Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the Board of the Space Agency (Azercosmos) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, Samaddin Asadov, during the discussion of the bill “On Space Activities” at the meeting of the Milli Majlis (parliament) Committee of Economic Policy, Industry and Enterprising, Report informs.
“Azerbaijan is located at the 46th-degree meridian in the orbit. An application for this meridian was filed before us by the Malaysian government in the 90s. In other words, Azerbaijan shares this meridian with Malaysia,” he said.
According to him, Malaysia decided to grant this resource to Azerbaijan as a result of favorable cooperation: “We will complete this process with Malaysia by the end of this year. The 46th degree will be the full position of Azerbaijan. After that, if we want, we will be able to launch 4-6 satellites.”
