Japan to tell Facebook to improve data protection

Baku. 22 October. REPORT.AZ/ The Japanese government is set to tell Facebook Inc to better protect its users’ personal data.

Report informs that the Japanese government worried on this issue after a leak involving British firm Cambridge Analytica that affected 87 million users globally, Kyodo News reported on Monday.

First of all, the regulator wants to ensure that Facebook will promptly respond to users ' requests to delete their data as necessary.

Moreover, according to the Agency, the Commission intends to demand from the social network to investigate the causes of another theft of personal information of 29 million people registered on Facebook, which occurred in September this year.

After the publication of the New York Times Facebook found itself in the center of a scandal about the transfer of data to the social network of Cambridge Analytica. According to various estimates, it was about the personal data about 87 million users. It also said the Cambridge Analytica incident potentially affected up to 100,000 users in Japan, and that the cyber attack may also have had an impact on users in Japan.
