Apple faces IC shortages for iPhone 12 Pro

The Apple iPhone 12 series was recently launched and has been well received in the market. The 2020 iPhone from the company has seen great global sales, which has even surpassed expectations. Despite healthy demand, Apple is struggling with supply constraints, which led to shortages of specific models due to the lack of critical components.

According to a UDN report, the iPhone 12 series is still exceeding expectations in terms of sales. However, models like the iPhone 12 Pro are still in short supply. The primary reason for the lack of inventory is the shortage of some key ICs for the device. These components are crucial for the handset, which cannot be assembled due to supply constraints.

Unfortunately, it seems this issue will stay for a while as the report also believes that the issue will continue till next year. As per the report, the foundries are tightly packed with orders at the moment. Their capacity to make advanced process wafers and the shortage of packaging and testing will continue until the second quarter of next year. The source added that the Cupertino-based giant could not keep up with the iPhone 12 Pro supply gap, which is larger than the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
