Deputy minister: “New Generation Economy Strategy” being implemented using modern technologies

The “New Generation Economy Strategy” in Azerbaijan is being implemented using technologies such as Big data, artificial intelligence, Internet of things, digital marketing, as well as drones and other tools necessary for the development of the digital economy, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Mammadov said at the International Cyber Security Days Conference (ICSD 2023) in Baku, Report informs.

The deputy minister called the development of human resources in the field of cybersecurity in Azerbaijan one of the important tasks. He added that the country has developed the necessary regulatory framework to achieve its goals in the field of cybersecurity.

Mammadov reminded that in 2022, by order of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, a new “Strategy for the socio-economic development of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026” was approved.

“In accordance with the action plan of this strategy, a working group has been created under the Economy Ministry that will prepare the Digital Development Strategy, as well as effectively coordinate the work carried out to develop this area in our country,” Mammadov noted.

He said that the project documentation has already been transferred to members of the working group, which includes representatives of 17 different structures and departments, including the Economy Ministry.

The deputy minister added that large-scale reconstruction work is currently being carried out in Eastern Zangazur and Karabakh: “The goal is the integration of the territories liberated from occupation into the country’s economy. In this regard, digitalization measures also come to the fore. For the development of the digital economy, it is extremely important to ensure cybersecurity,” he noted.
