Azerbaijan's national postal operator, Azerpost LLC, has reported a staggering 60-70% decrease in domestic money transfers through its post offices compared to a few years ago, said Asiman Aliyev, Director of the Operations Department at Azerpost LLC under the Digital Development and Transport Ministry, Report informs.
Aliyev made the announcement during the Digital Dialogue program broadcast on Asan Radio.
This decline indicates that this type of operation is no longer as relevant among people as it once was, he explained.
The shift in consumer behavior can be largely attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic. Aliyev noted, "Especially during the pandemic lockdown period, we observed people increasingly gravitating towards card-to-card transactions. This trend significantly impacted our domestic money transfer services."
The director highlighted that since 2022, a new tool for money transfer from Russia to Azerbaijan has been introduced: "Citizens can also receive funds transferred through the Granat money transfer system from post offices."
