Azercosmos, Viasat ink cooperation agreement

The Azerbaijan Space Agency (Azercosmos) under the Digital Development and Transport Ministry of Azerbaijan has signed a cooperation agreement with the global communication company Viasat, Report informs, citing Azercosmos.

The main goal of the agreement signed within the framework of the CABSAT telecommunications event held in Dubai is to expand the energy, utilities and transport services provided via satellite communication in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Central and South Asia.

Thus, Viasat, a leader in the field of satellite communication, will cooperate closely with Azercosmos to provide its highly reliable L-band satellite services in Azerbaijan. Within the framework of the planned cooperation, Azercosmos and Viasat will offer more cost-effective, stable and secure communication services even in the most remote places. Projects such as tracking and telemetry for transportation systems, pipeline monitoring and control for energy companies, real-time monitoring for utilities, and environmental safety monitoring for mining and agriculture will be implemented through the mentioned communication services.

Thanks to this cooperation, Viasat will offer its satellite services in Azerbaijan for the first time.

According to Andy Kessler, vice president of enterprise and land mobile at Viasat, the company's global satellite fleet serves a wide range of sectors around the world, from a researcher using a satellite phone to large industrial facilities managing complex supply chains: "We are proud to work with diverse ecosystem partners. Cooperation with Azercosmos is a strategic step forward to deliver our services to new customers and organizations."

In turn, Azercosmos Deputy Chairman Fuad Aslanov emphasized the importance of quick responses in the satellite services market. According to him, Azercosmos aims to expand its reliable service coverage to consumers and business partners on a global scale. "This remarkable cooperation with Viasat, our strategic partner, will support the creation of wider opportunities for us in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia," he said.
