As part of the Teknofest Aerospace and Technology Festival to be held in Baku on May 26-29 this year, conditions will be created for Azerbaijani youth to develop a satellite model, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport told Report.
For this purpose, the competition Amateur Satellite Modeling (CANSAT) was announced for students. The competition aims to provide students with theoretical and new practical knowledge in the field of space, especially in the field of satellite modelling and its management, to stimulate their basic knowledge in mechanics, electronics and programming. In addition, students will be able to improve teamwork, presentation, and planning skills.
According to the terms of the competition, students can form a team and participate in the competition. Also, each team must prepare a small satellite model and submit to the competition. Once launched, the satellite model must perform the function of collecting the necessary data from the sensors until it lands on the ground. The satellite must be able to perform the assigned mission by sending this information in the form of a telemetry package to the appropriate interface. The mission means that the satellite, which will be developed by the students, will determine the takeoff autonomously after being launched from the carrier, and if the takeoff is successful, it will record video footage of the earth’s surface and save it on the internal memory card.
Teams of students representing the B category will be able to compete for the Prize Fund, where those who take first place will receive 6,000 manats, second place – 4,000 manats and third place – 2,000 manats.
