Azerbaijan, World Bank mull different calculations of Logistics Performance Index

Azerbaijan is holding discussions with the World Bank regarding changes to the methodology for calculating the Logistics Performance Index in the Global Innovation Index report.

According to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, this was stated at the next meeting of the Working Group on Physical Infrastructure, which is led by the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings.

According to the new methodology, a "transition from survey-based approach to Big Data-based approach" has been adopted. Data sources such as the Universal Postal Union, Cargo IQ, TradeLens, MDS Transmodal, and MarineTraffic will be used as major data sources.

It was also reported that the Electricity Production indicator in the Global Innovation Index report was analyzed for 2022 and 2023, and forecast indicators for 2024 were submitted to the Commission's Secretariat.

The meeting also discussed the work to be done in the coming year and the draft action plan of the working group for 2025.
