Azerbaijan, Turkey to expand co-op in space industry

Azerbaijan and Turkey might hold high-level meetings under the protocol signed on cooperation in the space industry, President of the Turkish Space Agency Sardar Huseyn Yildirim said, Report informs.

According to Yildirim, work is underway with the Azerbaijani side in this direction.

"We are considering cooperation with Azerbaijan in satellite technologies, and we also want to add other elements. We see a bright future in this direction."

He noted that Azerbaijan has two satellites, but Turkey has more:

"But there are satellites in the world that can do different things; there are satellites that can carry "RADAR" (Radio Detecting And Ranging), and we can work together in this direction. It is possible to obtain more accurate images via RADAR satellites. We can involve other countries as well. We can all use one satellite. All EU member states use one satellite. Such work will benefit our countries."

The first business meeting of space agencies and relevant institutions of the Organization of Turkic States member and observer countries is being held in Baku today.

The Organization of Turkic States was established in 2009. The organization, chaired by Baghdad Amrayev, has five members (Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan) and two observers (Hungary, Turkmenistan).
