Azerbaijan to build 100% optical Internet network by end of 2024

The fiber optic internet network is being expanded in Azerbaijan, the Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Samir Mammadov, told journalists at the "International Digital Communication Summit - 2022" held in Tbilisi.

According to Report, he said the fiber optic internet network to be built by the end of the year will provide 800,000 people with high-speed internet. By the end of 2024, a 100% optical internet network will be established in Azerbaijan.

"Over the past year, we have started expanding the fiber optic network through Aztelekom and Baktelekom. Today, there are already opportunities to provide optical internet in the area where 600 thousand people live. By the end of the year, this figure will be increased to 800,000. By the end of 2024, a 100% high-speed optical internet network will be established in Azerbaijan," said the deputy minister.
