Azerbaijan's SME digitalization program to boost country's rankings in EGDI report

As the host country for the upcoming COP29 climate conference, Azerbaijan is placing special emphasis on promoting and implementing sustainable digital and innovative solutions, according to Samir Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport.

Report informs that speaking at the presentation of the SME Digitalization Program, Mammadov highlighted Azerbaijan's rapid pace of digitalization, which has been reflected in international rankings. "In the latest United Nations E-Government Development Index (EGDI) report, Azerbaijan demonstrated a historic performance in the digital development ranking, climbing 9 positions to rank 74th among 193 countries. This marks the first time Azerbaijan has been included in the 'very high EGDI' category," he noted.

Mammadov expressed confidence that the implementation of the SME Digitalization Program will further contribute to improving Azerbaijan's performance in the next EGDI report. "As the level of digitalization in SMEs increases, online government services will be utilized more actively. Online government services are one of the components of the EGDI index," he added.
