Azerbaijan may introduce biometric payment cards

The Norwegian company IDEX Biometrics wants to launch plastic bank cards with built-in fingerprint reader in Azerbaijan, Report informs.

In this regard, the company is already negotiating with the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, other relevant structures and commercial banks.

The company’s senior vice president for Eastern Europe, Hakan Acar, met with the head of the Azexport portal Ayhan Gadashov, who is the operator of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications.

The meeting participants discussed the possibilities of using plastic bank cards with built-in fingerprint reader in digital payments, mainly in electronic commerce.

IDEX Biometrics was established in Oslo in 1996. The main control centers are in New York and Massachusetts.
