A study visit titled "Data Protection Practices" was held in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, under the Council of Europe's project for Promoting Media Professionalism and Freedom of Information (PRO-M-FEX) in Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan’s Digital Development and Transport Ministry.
Representatives from the ministry, as well as the Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman), State Agency for Citizen Service and Social Innovations under the President of Azerbaijan, the Center for Legal Expertise and Legislative Initiatives, and civil society organizations participated in the study visit.
As part of the visit, detailed information was provided about measures implemented within the framework of Azerbaijan's Strategy for Information Security and Cybersecurity for 2023-2027, the Presidential order "On Approval of the Digital Development Concept," and the AI Strategy for 2025-2028, as well as priority directions for information security and cybersecurity, personal data processing and protection, and artificial intelligence.
Experts from the Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency (AZOP) delivered both theoretical and practical presentations.
Information was provided about AZOP's activities, powers, and applied sanctions. Discussions were held on the implementation experience of the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Convention 108+.
As part of the event, the delegation also visited Croatia's Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation.
