Azerbaijan, TikTok in final stages of talks on taxing content monetization revenue

Negotiations between Azerbaijan and TikTok regarding the taxation of revenue generated from content monetization are in the final stages, said Fariz Jafarov, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the 4th Industrial Revolution (4SIM), Report informs.

This move to regulate the earnings of TikTok users who create and distribute content in Azerbaijan is a crucial part of the country's strategy to form a modern digital ecosystem.

“Azerbaijan has been actively working to increase the competitiveness of national businesses and take them to a new level in recent years, providing necessary tools and infrastructure to support entrepreneurs,” Jafarov said.

“The government clearly defines its strategic goals, which include not only supporting small and medium-sized enterprises but also creating an effective digital ecosystem. In this system, data processing centers, storage systems, cybersecurity, and payment systems that connect various organizations play a vital role,” Fariz Jafarov noted.
