WHO: Number of COVID cases globally may exceed 300M in early 2022

The number of people infected with coronavirus globally may exceed 300 million at the beginning of next year, if the current rate of the infection spread cannot be stopped, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a briefing in Geneva on August 11, Report informs referring to TASS.

He reminded that last week the number of COVID cases registered in the world since the beginning of the pandemic exceeded 200 million, and this happened just six months after 100 million cases were recorded worldwide.
