WHO: Monkeypox requires collective attention and coordinated action

The WHO Director-General will reconvene the Emergency Committee during the week of 18 July or sooner if needed to update the EC members on the current epidemiology and evolution of the outbreak, and implementation of counter measures, the World Health Organization (WHO) told Report.

"Monkeypox requires our collective attention and coordinated action to stop its further spread, using public health measures including surveillance, contact-tracing, isolation and care of patients, and ensuring health tools like vaccines and treatments are available to at-risk populations and shared fairly," the organization said.

"Information is a powerful tool: work with communities to ensure people who are most at risk have the information and support they need to protect themselves and others," it noted.
