WHO: Last year about 10 million people died of cancer in the world

Baku. 5 February. REPORT.AZ/ Last year, about 9 million 600 thousand people in the world died of cancer.

Report informs citing the Foreign media, this is stated in the report of the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to the report, in 2018, about 18.1 million people in the world diagnosed with cancer. Approximately 70% of cancer deaths in the world occur in low- or middle-income countries. 30% of cancer deaths are associated with overweight, sedentary life, poor diet, tobacco and alcohol use. WHO experts believe that the most real risk factor is the use of cigarettes and alcoholic beverages. So, 22% of cancer deaths are due to cigarettes.
