The breakfast of a person who seeks to lose extra kilos should consist of several essential components, Report informs, citing Tatyana Strelnikova, resident physician, nutritionist of the National Medical Research Center of Endocrinology under the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
Strelnikova explained that protein should be the basis of the first meal.
“It is a building block for cells and it keeps you feeling full for a long time. Ideal protein sources for breakfast are eggs, cottage cheese, white cheeses, natural yogurts, lightly salted salmon,” the specialist explained.
She added that when choosing dairy products, the percentage of fat and composition should be taken into account, for example, yogurt should not contain sugar, dry mixes, and artificial coloring. If cheese is preferred for breakfast, it is better to buy white varieties, since they do not contain trans fats, the physician added.
According to the nutritionist, it is also important to eat vegetables and slow carbohydrates for breakfast (bran bread, wholemeal cereals, whole grain porridge, etc.). It is better to use olive oil as a dressing, and add nuts and seeds to the diet to balance fats.
And it is better to opt for freshly brewed coffee or herbal tea as the morning drink.
