WHO representative: What has spread in Azerbaijan is seasonal influenza, not "swine flu"

Baku. 1 February. REPORT.AZ/ "At present, seasonal flu (A / H1N1) is spread all over the world as well as in Azerbaijan just like every year," Hande Harmanci, Representative of the World Health Organization in Azerbaijan, said at a press conference.

According to her, the type of virus called A / H1N1 has been observed for 10 years: "However, it is rather a seasonal flu, which is not called 'a swine flu'. "If a person gets infected from a swine, and then this virus infects another person, we call it a seasonal flu. The last pandemic fact in the world was observed in 2009. Inf A (H1N1) was the latest virus that caused pandemic."

Harmanci said that A / H1N1 virus is widely spread in Georgia, however,  this virus does not differ from last year's viruses: "This virus has been reported to be A / H1N1 in Georgia. Influenza virus has been spread in all European countries since October. The results are collected and discussed in the second month of the each year. The influenza type is determined in the final decision and seasonal flu vaccines are prepared."

The head of the WHO office in Azerbaijan noted that it is not necessary to raise the issue on the spread of swine flu in some countries

She said it is important to follow hygienic rules to protect oneself from viruses.
