Vugar Gurbanov: Infection rate of COVID-19 is minimal in Azerbaijan

In the last weeks of this year, a 50% decrease in infection cases was observed, Vugar Gurbanov, the Executive Director of the Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB), told an interview with Report.

The head of TABIB reminded that the daily average number of infections was 1,091 last year, 607 in 2022, while this indicator was 35 in November.

He said that the share of positive tests in total tests for this year (infection rate) was an average of 7%, and the average for the last two months was 2.2%: “The hospitalization rate was 11.7% in 2021, and decreased by 3 times to 3.7% in 2022. According to the mentioned statistical data, infection with COVID-19 is minimal compared to the previous periods. Management of the pandemic from a single center - the creation of the Task Force, the effective and timely organization of the vaccination campaign, and the development of natural immunity against infections- has saved us from this trial.”
