UNICEF makes offer to TABIB on medical services in Karabakh

In a meeting between Alex Heikens, the UNICEF Representative to Azerbaijan, and Vugar Gurbanov, the Executive Director of the Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB), an offer was made to TABIB on medical services in Karabakh, Report informs.

Deputy Executive Directors of TABIB Araz Nasirov and Anar Israfilov, Tohfa Jamilova, an employee of the UNICEF Azerbaijan Representation, and heads of relevant structural units of TABIB took part in the meeting.

Strengthening the potential of medical workers, establishing mechanisms for their continuous professional development, including the organization of online and mixed professional development courses, and creating supporting control mechanisms for improving the quality of medical care and other issues were discussed at the meeting.

During the meeting, UNICEF proposed to start implementing the ‘Universal Progressive Model of Patronage Service’ project, which is currently successfully applied in several regions of the republic, in the Karabakh region. TABIB highly appreciated this proposal, and discussions were held on the inclusion of Agali village of Zangilan district in the project.

In the end, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between TABIB and UNICEF.

The Memorandum of Understanding aims to expand the scope of health and nutrition measures for all children and mothers in the country, especially the most vulnerable groups, by supporting the ongoing health reforms in Azerbaijan, prioritizing and strengthening the quality of services in the field of maternal and child health.
