"The virus is always subjected to mutation. The new strain differs from the previous one in the speed of its infectivity," said Tayyar Eyvazov, an infectious disease specialist at the Ministry of Health, Report informs.
According to him, the Delta strain leads to today's infection figures:
"Omicron strains have been registered in other countries and are spreading rapidly. Of course, this strain will also come to Azerbaijan. Therefore, no additional protective method has been invented. The population must be responsible, strictly follow the rules, gather as little as possible indoors, wear masks, ventilate the rooms."
Eyvazov said that it is recommended to join the vaccination process and get a booster dose: "A boost of acquired immunity formed as a result of vaccination can help reduce the number of deaths and infections."
