Specialist reveals unknown symptom of type 2 diabetes

The yellow color of the nails may indicate the presence of the second kind of diabetes, Report says, referring to Express.

Dr. Elizabeth Salada told the publication that she always pays attention to patients' nails during the examination. Rapid breakage (brittleness), change in shape and color can sign several serious diseases, including type 2 diabetes.

"Yellow nails sometimes indicate an infection. People with diabetes are more prone to a fungal infection called onychomycosis. This disease usually affects the feet. It makes the nails yellowy and itchy," Salada explained.

She noted that the color of healthy nails should be pink, flat, and even.

The doctor also warned that the infection could quickly spread to an open wound after an inconspicuous incision. In this case, there is a risk of serious injury to the leg without treatment.
