Scientists warn of upcoming third wave of COVID in Europe

The third wave of coronavirus may hit Europe in the near future, said President of the German Robert Koch Institute, Professor Lothar Wieler, Report informs referring to RIA Novosti.

‘In Europe, we must be wary of (the beginning of the third wave of COVID-19). I don’t want to comment about other countries, we can all see the numbers,’ he said.

He noted that the third wave is starting in Germany. The specialist stressed that measures against the coronavirus, including reducing contacts and wearing masks, are still needed.

Wieler urged countries to fully comply with the measures, because it will save thousands of lives.

Also, according to the expert, it is necessary to increase the vaccination of the population. Otherwise, the measures will have to be toughened in the autumn, he added.
