Russian nutritionist reveals daily coffee intake norm

There are no prohibitions on the volume of coffee consumed per day, but this drink should be used with caution, Antonina Starodubova, Russian chief nutritionist of the Moscow Department of Healthcare, said in an interview with RIA Novosti, Report informs.

“As a rule, there are no prohibitions, 1-2 cups of coffee a day - not strong or with milk - can be allowed. Some experts suggest limiting caffeine - to consume no more than 3 mg of caffeine per kilogram of body weight. This means that considering weight body 70 kg, you can afford no more than 210 mg of caffeine, that is, no more than 5-6 cups of black tea or three small espressos a day,” said Starodubova.

She noted that people who have a predisposition to high blood pressure, with cardiovascular diseases, should be careful when drinking coffee. Also, coffee is not recommended for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, for example, peptic ulcer or exacerbation of gastritis, since coffee has some irritating effect.
