Over 200,000 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech to be allocated to Azerbaijan

The Chairman of the Board of the State Agency for Compulsory Health Insurance Zaur Aliyev met with the General Manager for Communications of GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization) Rosie Greaves and the head of the UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) office in our country Edward Karwardin in an online format.

The Agency told Report that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss imports of the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19 into the country.

Rosie Greaves said that 84,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19 would be sent from Korea to Azerbaijan at the initial stage on April 5. The vaccine will be delivered to the country within 5-6 days. Also, within eight weeks, Azerbaijan will receive 218,790 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

By the end of May, Azerbaijan plans to import a total of 432,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19.
