No stringent coronavirus-related measures expected in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is not expected to introduce tough measures in connection with coronavirus, an expert of the Ministry of Health, Tayyar Eyvazov, said.

He recalled that Azerbaijan has two years of experience in combating coronavirus: "The adoption of stringent measures during the pandemic was due to the lack of information about the virus. However, today we see that, although the Omicron strain is highly contagious, the number of severe cases of the disease is small. The quarantine rules were tightened due to the increase in the number of severe cases of the disease, as a result of which the healthcare facilities were overloaded. At present, the number of those who are severely enduring the coronavirus is small. I think there is no need to introduce drastic measures associated with the pandemic."

The ministry official added that the epidemiological situation in Azerbaijan in connection with COVID-19 is satisfactory.
