New department established to study bone remains of persons missing in 1st Karabakh War

The Azerbaijani Health Ministry has created warehouses with special conditions for the study, examination and subsequent storage of the skeletal remains of persons who went missing during the First Karabakh War, Adalat Hasanov, Director of the Forensic Expertise and Pathological Anatomy Unit of the Health Ministry, said at the "Identification of Missing Persons - Humanitarian Approach" conference dedicated to August 30, the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, Report informs.

According to Adalat Hasanov, a separate facility has been allocated by the Ministry of Health for this purpose.

"When those bone remains are presented to us, they are taken to that department. We have created the Forensic-Medical Criminalistics Department II of the Union of Forensic-Medical Expertise and Pathological Anatomy. There, the examinations are recorded together with the employees of the Military Prosecutor's Office. Then they are stored in special warehouses there," he added.
