Azerbaijan and neighboring countries are seeing an increase in the number of coronavirus infections, expert at the Ministry of Health Gunay Ismayilova said.
Report informs that, according to her, the reason for this may be the weakening of herd immunity acquired over time, and the removal of all restrictions due to quarantine:
"Let's not forget that many infections are activated in the autumn. The change of season causes certain changes in the human body. As the weather gets colder, the body's resistance decreases, it becomes weaker, so the cases of coronovirus infection increase. Also, the reason for the increase in cases of respiratory tract infections in autumn is the active use of enclosed spaces with the onset of cold weather. Each new wave of the pandemic gives rise to new mutations of the virus that can bypass the immune system. Considering all this, it is not ruled out that the number of coronavirus cases in our country will increase in fall."
