Israeli political scientist: Discrimination by COVAX - disgusting act

Discrimination in the supply of vaccines through the COVAX platform isn’t surprising at all, Israeli lawyer, specialist in international law and politics Michael Finkel told Report.

The expert also stressed that “discrimination in such an important issue as healthcare is a disgusting act.”

“All the stock phrases about the equality of people, the UN Charter, the international law, about how we progressed from racism and Nazism in a civil manner - are all just words that don’t mean anything. As you know, actions speak louder than words. Islamophobia, Azerbaijanophobia, hatred towards the Turks. We all see this, and all this behavior, for me personally, deserves the most severe condemnation.”

He noted that the countries are still divided into “those of the first, second and third grade.”

“Racism and, moreover, religious discrimination and bias always existed. Azerbaijan is treated like that only because it is a predominantly Muslim country. It reminds me of the anti-Semitism prevalent in the world towards Jews and Israel. We understand you perfectly. I offer Azerbaijan not to expect favors from this or any other platform, but directly contact Israel. We have a huge amount of Pfizer vaccine reserves for about 15-16 countries. Israel has always helped Azerbaijan,” he said.
