Infectious disease specialist says no influenza virus in Azerbaijan

Currently, the presence of the influenza virus in Azerbaijan has not been confirmed, said Tayyar Eyvazov, specialist-expert of the Azerbaijani Health Ministry, infectious disease specialist, Report informs.

According to Tayyar Eyvazov, test samples taken from those suspected of being infected with flu and coronavirus have been examined.

However, influenza virus was not detected in any of the samples. The sick people were infected with acute respiratory viral infections.

The expert said that currently, the coronavirus situation is satisfactory in Azerbaijan:

"Even the number of infections is in double digits. This is the lowest number of patients since the beginning of the pandemic. We know that those who have a mild illness do not apply to get tested. Although the statistics do not show the real figures, the number of active patients is not high."
