An omicron strain can affect 100 people at once if its carrier sneezes or coughs, according to immunologist Vladimir Bolibok, Report informs, citing Moskva-24 TV channel.
"I suppose that even a conversation, simple breath, and yawning are enough for a discharge of an aerosol with the particles of saliva, mucus, containing a sufficient amount of a virus to infect another person. If someone has sneezed or coughed, such an amount will do for 100 people at once," he said.
Bolibok noted that omicron had outpaced the measles for its contagiousness.
"We have never seen such contagiousness before. While measles was considered the most contagious disease, omicron has outrun it in this sense. This explains such a colossal number of those infected at once," he said.
