How to understand: stress or cold

Stress and negative emotions can trigger symptoms of a wide variety of conditions, from colds to diabetes.

Report informs that Neuropsychologist Irina and clinical psychologist Irina Khvingiya told in an interview with Sputnik radio.

"Stress symptoms can often be similar to those of a cold. Besides, it is necessary to understand that not a specific situation can be an irritant causing stress. It can be a change of time zones, any change in the external environment. The body reacts in different ways, including symptoms similar to various diseases," she explained.

"Symptoms of stress can be similar to a cold: it throws a sweat, then dry skin appears. The same condition happens when the flu begins. Very often, we can observe symptoms characteristic of conjunctivitis. With sudden severe stress, blood sugar can rise - a sign, as in diabetes mellitus. In chronic stress, there may be allergic manifestations."

One of the manifestations of stress is term neurosis when the body temperature is elevated.

"This may be an organic disease when, as a result of some injuries, thermoregulation is disrupted-signals do not pass between the crucial areas of the brain. Another option is against the background of chronic stress, most often against the background of depression, when the temperature increases. If the temperature is elevated due to the term neurosis, it usually does not exceed 37.5. If a person has a temperature of 38, we are unlikely to talk about stress. Most likely, it is some inflammation."
