Health Ministry: Spread of influenza virus in Azerbaijan not excluded

To date, the influenza virus has not been detected in swabs taken from people with upper respiratory tract infection symptoms. However, seasonal influenza has spread in many countries, including neighboring countries, which makes its spread to Azerbaijan possible, Tayyar Eyvazov, an infectious disease specialist at the Health Ministry of Azerbaijan, told Report.

The infectious disease specialist said that in some people, the recurrence of symptoms after a short period and the fluctuating course of the disease might be associated with a weakened immune system, a secondary bacterial infection, or a new condition with another respiratory virus: “In order to insure against all these negative situations, it is necessary not only to observe protective measures, but also to lead a healthy lifestyle, avoid bad habits and dress according to the air temperature.

Influenza vaccines have been purchased by the Ministry of Health and have already been distributed to Family Health Centers. Each citizen can get vaccinated at their own discretion by contacting the nearest Family Health Center. Vaccines are quite safe and effective.”
