Health Ministry changing rules for accreditation of medical institutions

"Currently, a working group at the Health Ministry is re-drafting the regulatory framework for the accreditation of medical institutions," Health Minister Teymur Musayev said.

According to him, another direction in the formation of effective health management will be based on the assessment of medical institutions.

"As you know, accreditation is considered to be the most effective way to ensure the quality of services provided by medical institutions around the world. The role of accreditation in modern health care systems is to monitor issues that affect patient safety and the level of services provided.

“Measurable criteria, called accreditation standards, are being developed to assess medical facilities. Standards are dynamic and are subject to periodic changes. The most important element of the accreditation system is that any medical institution can evaluate its performance in accordance with the accreditation standards accepted as good examples. The detection of shortcomings allows us to explore ways of improving processes within a medical institution."
