Emergency medical care included in compulsory health insurance in Azerbaijan

The emergency medical service is included in the compulsory health insurance in Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the head of the Marketing and Public Relations Department of the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance, Aynura Ahmadova.

According to her, medicines are also included in the insurance package.

Ahmadova noted that any medical service can be provided free of charge, not at the patient's request but according to the doctor's prescription.

"Patients can contact the management of the relevant medical institution if their doctor does not issue the necessary referral. The patients will be provided with the needed help if their complaint is justified," she said.

Ahmadova added that with compulsory medical insurance, patients are free to choose their doctors themselves.
