Doctor says vaccination 'only way out of coronavirus pandemic'

During the day, we had to contact 30 to 40 patients with coronavirus. We experienced great difficulties before importing the vaccine into Azerbaijan. Therefore, my health was virtually at risk. Vaccination against COVID-19 was the only way out," Zakir Guliyev, the head of the therapeutic department at the Baku Health Center, a specialist in internal medicine, told Report.

According to him, he received his first dose of the coronavirus vaccine on January 26: "The next dose will be administered on February 23. After the first dose, I had slight muscle pains for two days and this is normal. In general, I feel great."

Guliyev said that the only way out of the coronavirus pandemic is vaccination.

"Addressing the population, I want to say that there is no reason for concern. The CoronoVAC vaccine used in Azerbaijan, produced by the Chinese company SinoVac, has passed many tests, and the effectiveness of this vaccine has been confirmed. Everyone should be vaccinated when his turn comes," he said.

The internal medicine specialist said that he had many patients at risk and added that some of them had already been vaccinated.

“At first they were also worried, but after the vaccination they called and thanked me. None of them had any side effects from the vaccine," he said.

Guliyev also added that although the vaccine does not protect against the new COVID-19 strain 100%, vaccinated people tolerate the disease much easier.
