The World Health Organization (WHO) has always supported Azerbaijan in improving emergency medical services (EMS), Deputy Minister of Health Nadir Zeynalov said at the opening of the symposium on “Improvement of emergency medical service system in Azerbaijan,” Report informs.
According to him, a number of reforms have been carried out in the healthcare system in Azerbaijan in recent years.
Zeynalov stressed that this primarily concerns the financing of healthcare: “In addition, one of the important points is the improvement of the emergency medical service system. WHO has introduced a project in this regard. The work is being done in 3 main directions. The first is the improvement of emergency services at the pre-hospital stage, the second is bringing emergency medicine to modern standards within the hospital, and the third is the issue of teaching the subject of emergency medicine at the Medical University. Trainers and teams involved in the training were determined within the framework of the measures taken since February of this year. During this period, the team members attended a one-month course in Turkiye and brought certain innovations to our country.”
